Description

Harold Jarman-a Bristolian-had a fascinating 14-season career with the Bristol Rovers, from 1959 until 1973. A highly talented winger, he made over 500 appearances for his hometown club, scoring over a century of goals. He was a real crowd pleaser who could brighten up any match with his extraordinary skills. Between 1961 and 1971, Jarman was also a professional cricketer for the Gloucestershire County Cricket club. After leaving Rovers in 1973, he had a season at Newport County before being tempted to America to play for the New York Cosmos in the North American Soccer League. Becoming homesick, he returned home to Bristol and managed some local football clubs before rejoining the Rovers in the late 1970s. Harold enjoyed many roles, including caretaker manager, saving the club from relegation, then coach and youth team/reserve team manager.
