Georges Jacques Danton is considered as one of the leading figures in the initial period of the French Revolution.

He was born in Arcis sur Aube in northeastern France on 26th of October 1759. He was the first President of the Committee of Public Safety.

There are several conflicting accounts of his role in the French Revolution, however, it is unanimously described by several historians that Danton was the chief force in the overthrow of the monarchy in France. He was also a leading figure in the establishment of the First French Republic.
